General Information
The semi-ornate snake (Meizodon semiornatus) is a species of snake in the subfamily Colubrinae. It is found in Africa.
Ecology & Behaviour
This is a terrestrial, usually diurnal species widespread in coastal thicket, woodland, semi-desert, moist and dry savanna, and high grassland (Spawls et al. 2002, Broadley and Blaylock 2013). It is often found in the vicinity of rivers and other water sources (Largen and Spawls 2010, Broadley and Blaylock 2013).
Reproduction
It is oviparous, laying two to three eggs.
Conservation
Listed as Least Concern on the basis that this species, while not well-known, is widespread and not thought to be subject to substantial threats.
