Fun Facts..
Spotted hyenas are matriarchal, meaning that the females are dominant over the males. The alpha female is the largest and strongest hyena in the clan, and she leads the hunts and makes all the important decisions. Zambia has a large population of Spotted hyenas, and they can be found in all of the country’s national parks.
Zambian Spotted hyenas are particularly common in the Luangwa National Park, which is home to one of the largest populations of Spotted hyenas in Africa.
Zambian Spotted hyenas play an important role in the ecosystem by helping to control populations of prey animals. Spotted hyenas are both hunters and scavengers. They are very successful hunters, and they can take down prey as large as zebras and wildebeest. They are also very efficient scavengers, and they can eat almost anything, including bones.
Spotted hyenas have the strongest jaws of any mammal. They can crush bones with their powerful bite, and they can even eat the hooves and horns of their prey.
Spotted hyenas are very vocal animals. They make a variety of whooping, laughing, and chattering sounds to communicate with each other.
